About Deborah...

My intial beliefs about health and healing came to me when I was quite young.  For the first thirteen years of my life, I lived in a small town nestled in the Allegheny mountains in upstate New York.  This land belongs to a tribe of American Indians known as the Seneca Nation.  Here, I learned that all life is inter-woven, inter-connected. We humans are so much more than our physical bodies; we are precious aspects of the Creator, connected to all other aspects of creation. Health and well-being are related to balance, that is, to the way that we walk upon the Earth, caring for ourselves, each other, our planet, and all of Creation.

I have  practiced both the art and science of nursing for over 25 years.  My  work has taken me to a variety of settings.  My initial experience began in the fast paced environment of the Intensive Care Unit in a large Bay area hospital, where my initial meeting with patients and their families was often based upon a crisis. From here, I transitioned to providing support, education, training, and guidance to nurses, nursing assistants and other non-licensed staff on several different units and at times, throughout this  same hospital.

In 1996, as a result of an organizational re-structuring process, I had the opportunity to re-evaluate my work life; this also  included the bigger picture of my life.  Some part of me knew this was a time for change, a new beginning. Listening to my heart, I traveled to the green fields and hills of Ireland, where the land and her people taught me much about life, more than I can translate into words. This was truly a personal and spiritual pilgrimage, one that changed my life.  While walking the land where the color green is expressed in a  multitude of shades and fences of stone, consciously placed, populate the landscape, I learned about different aspects of healing and myself.

Upon my return to the United States, I made my way to the southwest, the high desert,  a place where the sky transforms itself daily through magnificient hues of color. In many ways, it was quite a contrast from the moist, luscious green of Ireland.  Little did I know what additional transformation also awaited me here.  My search for meaningful work led me to a large public school district where I coordinated health services within a multi-cultural community (Hispanic, Mexican, Native American, Tibetan, and the local Caucasian residents). Finding deep meaning in the community setting, after two years I became interested in providing nursing services to people in their homes as well as offering support to family members. This was where my experience with hospice care began.  For the next 11 years, my work involved providing care  and support to the dying and their families, from both a bedside and management perspective. It also brought me back to the San Francisco Bay area, although I returned with a fresh perspective and seeing through different eyes.

Early on in my practice, I realized that the body, mind, heart and spirit are inter-connencted and engaged in an intricate dance.  The  inter-relationship of the steps to the overall choreography contribute to well being or imbalance.  The teachings I learned early on in my life now came to me in yet a different way.

My passion is helping you to re-connect with your true nature.  There is a Healer within each person and an innate wisdom that resides here. When this wisdom is awakened new possibilities are born.  I have personally experienced my own Inner Healer.  We were introduced during a time of great change, deep healing and  transformation. This connection continues to be strong and very alive today.

Healing is so much more than eliminating a set of symptoms, "managing" a chronic condition, or helping a life-threatening illness into remission. True healing stimulates a return to wholeness; it effects every level of one's life.  I am committed to transforming the way individuals, healthcare professionals and organizations perceive and relate to the experience of  healing and health.

I look forward to meeting YOU.
